CarLoader : CarLoader is a program that keeps track of cars and tracks for Midtown Madness. I suggest getting this program (http://drive.to/carloader). The Mercury is not compatible with CarLoader. It will read the file as "(error) vptaurus2.ar". To fix it, let it finish loading, then right click "(error) vptaurus2.ar" and select "Change Name" and change it to "'91 Ford Taurus Police Cruiser". Move the picture that's included in the zip to your CarLoader images folder. To view the picture, right click "'91 Ford Taurus Police Cruiser" and select "View".

Recommended : 80-100% Physics, anything lower and the car's steering gets too sensitive and it may tip on two wheels.

Notes : The Taurus was the first FWD American police car. Back when it was introduced, no one took it seriously. But it gained a reputation among other cop cars. The police package was a Taurus L that included a 3.8L Essex V6 with dual exhaust. This resulted in a 15 HP boost and a 5 ft-lbs torque boost. It was ranked faster and more agile than the Ford Crown Victoria 351 V8 and the Chevrolet Caprice 350 V8. It even outran Chevy's FWD, the Lumina!

This MM re-creation has 3D mirrors. The sounds are from my Sable. The drive sounds were mixed with the Mustang sound. I know it might seem annoying and throaty, but it's pretty accurate. The horn is from the '68 Mustang in-game and it works well. The selection screen sound is a clip of a siren from in-game. If you have a problem with the sounds, turn off your speakers. The tuning is perfect. It doesn't handle like a boat like my other cars. It's suspension is pretty tight and there's not much bodyroll. Just tap the handbrakes (after getting to above 50 MPH and starting a turn) to get it sliding. If you start to oversteer, give lots of counter steer to correct it. It's really easy to drive since it's FWD. It takes some getting used to the tuning. It can do 0-60 in about 7 seconds (official time is around 8.5 to 9.2 seconds) and a top speed of about 130-140 MPH (official top speed is around 128-129 MPH). The only Taurii that came with a manual transaxle was the MT5 and SHO. So the manual portrayed in the game is just an automatic that you have to manually shift. Although on the real car, it would not be possible to manually shift the automatic since it goes from overdrive (4) to drive (3) to first (1). Each color has it's own license plate (courtesy of the License Plate Shack - http://www.plateshack.com/plateshack.html ). The colors are a good selection. There's the standard Chicago Police Department paint scheme (with the original call number as teh old version!) and a Detroit Police paint scheme from the movie "Robocop." The dash is of a '91 Taurus sedan with an '89 SHO cluster. I know it looks a bit cartoony, but when the pictures are shrunk, they get unreadable. Plus it has a tach and the real police package didn't. The real police package had the same cluster as the civilian version, except it had a 140 MPH speedometer.

Known issues : There are some weird shading and reflection problems around the car. It might look better with reflections off. The rear wheel shows up thru the fender at a distance using the V-cam. Try and take your screenshots closer to the car.
