Installation Instructions:

Simply run the installer. However, once ingame...

           *******DISABLE SPEED LOADING*******
IN THE GRAPHICS OPTIONS MENU UNCHECK SPEED LOADING OR THERE WILL BE GRAPHICAL ISSUES.

     !!!!ALSO!!!!
If you have ANYTHING from an older version of Revisited, DELETE IT! I've renamed things, so installing this mod won't overwrite some files. If you don't remove old stuff, there will likely be issues!

Copyright Stuff:

I'm obviously in no position to prevent you from using my stuff, since there's no known AR locker for MM1. However, I've always been a strong proponent towards locking AR files. I believe it's the user's right to get into the files and modify them as they see fit. Feel free to use my stuff however you want. All I ask is that you not be a dick about it and claim something from this mod as your own, should you use something from Revisited in a modification of your own. Please give credit where credit is due. Feel free to contact me (info at the bottom of the readme) if you have any questions, or just want to show me what you're making. I always like to see how my work is being used. :)

Special Thanks:

CarLuver69 - Modifying the EXE to fix sky shading with Morning, enable tire/damage smoke by default, and allowing the Cadillac to have proper engine sounds in multiplayer. He also made a custom batch script for creating AR files... saved me an immeasurably huge amount time, and made my life 100% easier. Everyone give him a round of applause.

aaro4130 - Modifying the EXE to stop the sky from slowly spinning around, and making the installer. He also created the video patcher program, which is linked below. Another round of applause for this man.

Toty - Explaining how to generate TEXP images, and how to add paintjobs. Pretty vital stuff.

Rohit - Providing plenty of advice, and beta testing.

TigerHawk - Beta testing, and half of the crude humor that kept me going. :P

Robin - Beta testing, and helping me stay faithful to the original game.

CGSkies (www.cgskies.com) - Providing all of the new sky textures for free. This mod wouldn't look half as good without these guys.

Description:

It took a year and a half of procrastination and laziness (and plenty of swearing at the VCK), but MM1 Revisited v3 is finally here, and it's the best version of the mod to date. It aims to improve the game in every aspect possible, while introducing some truly original and clever features, and fixing bugs with the game along the way.

* You may now choose which sets of features you want, via the installer.

* Graphics have been dramatically improved since the last version of the mod. The sky is now a fully panoramic 360 degree object, just like newer MM2 Revisited mods. Water has also been enhanced to provide a fairly convincing illusion of being reflective of the sky. Snowy weather now has also been enhanced with snow covered roads, and none of that ugly pixel by pixel buildup effect. Various ground textures, and shading elements, and particle effects have also been enhanced to make the game look nicer and more realistic.
I'm not promising they'll blow you away, the game still looks pretty dated.. but you may be surprised at some of the visuals for such an old game.

* The EXE has been modified to allow tire and damage smoke to be enabled without cheats, and it also looks a bit better than default thanks to a modified texture. It also allows the opponent Cadillac to finally sounds like a Cadillac in multiplayer, so now you don't hear other players driving a Ford Eldorado GT or something.

* New colors have been added to some default cars. Some are beta-inspired recreations, some are from MM2, and some are designed to look like the colors seen in the vehicle showcase images.

* The night dashboards from have been enhanced to include illuminated gauges and buttons, like in real cars.

* The trailer of the Freightliner Century will move around by itself considerably less when you drop it (using F5), which cuts down on the glitchy physics by a lot while running solo.

* Software Rendering is now supported, although keep in mind that the mod wasn't designed for the harsh limitations of this mode. The skies had to be nerfed to a much smaller resolution (from 1024p to 256p) to prevent the game from crashing, water has alot of black in it, and some dashboards have black areas around the windows. However, if you've been stuck with nothing but software mode, try out the video patcher included in the installer. It should give you access to proper hardware rendering.

* Snowy weather now has its own reflections, rather than borrowing from the rain versions as it does by default.

* Reduced the number of patrolling cops. You'll no longer get gangbanged as soon as you turn a corner.

* Moved the damage meter in the Panoz Roadster's dash to the left side, so you don't have to disable the map every time you want to see how damaged you are.

* Improved mousemod. Steering is now a bit less of a pain in the ass for each car.

* Since basically nobody liked the new Fastback and Caddie engine sounds I added in v2, I removed them. You're welcome.

* The button to access the MSN Gaming Zone in the multiplayer screen has been grayed out. As I'm sure everyone knows, the Zone has not been available for nearly a decade now. :(

* Opponent Ford Mustang Cruisers now have proper mustang engine sounds. (Only applies to custom races that include them as opponents.)

* Some other very small tweaks that probably don't make much of a difference ingame, but satisfied my OCD at the time I made them. Woo.

* And yes, v3 still includes stuff from v2. No need to use both at the same time. In fact, don't. It will cause issues. v2's contents are listed below.

--------------
Old Changelog (From v2):

* Almost every single model in the game now has no Level of Detail (LOD) models, meaning that the game looks quite a bit more HD from a distance.

* Dashboards have been revamped. They have been repositioned and reshaped to reflect how they actually should look, and they have been given night textures. I also removed the "rocking" effect from them... it was a nice effect, although caused some random jumping up and down issues, and a very weird look when upside down. I also gave proper colors, and speedometers to a few.

* Cops have been added into traffic! They will chase you just like normal cops.

* The field of view for every camera (except the Thrill Cam) has been increased from 60 to 70. This will make the game look a bit more like MM2, and also gives a much better sense of speed.

* Some better sounds from MM2 have been added. These include the suspension, skidding, and traffic light impact sounds.

* Opponent arrows on the map now look better. They have a small black border around them, and match the color of the arrows above them.

* Opponents are no longer faster or slower than you if you're driving the same car as them. I'm not sure about you, but I got seriously pissed off in the last circuit race because the opponent GTR-1s were on steroids. I should point out that this is strictly an optional feature, but I personally don't feel too bad for correcting lazy programming.

* The opponent VW Beetle no longer sounds like a Panoz Roadster.

* The showcases for the default vehicles now show how many points you will get if you win with it in Pro mode.

* Fixed the headlights of every car in the game. They have more natural colors, and the cone matches up with the glow on every car now.

* All traffic cars are now a bit heavier. This makes for more fun collisions, and a more challenging game!

* Corrected the path of the plane. It now flies over the runway, not through the street lights east of it.

* The tunnel dash shading effect now shows in the underground parking lot near Old Town.

* Corrected a small issue with the color of the Fastback's tire.

* The back right wheel on the Small Boeing Jet (cheat car) no longer steers.

* Corrected the statistics of all default cars in the vehicle selection screen.

* Removed "Hide Pedestrians" from the Race Options screen. Never saw the point of that button, since it's also in graphics options.

* Modified tuning of a few 'hidden' drivable traffic cars. They now handle better.

Compatibility, and Tips:

There aren't too many mods out there for MM1, so compatibility shouldn't be much of an issue. Traffic mods may or may not work, and you should obviously delete older versions of Revisited if you have them, but otherwise you're pretty much good to go.

--------------
Bugs:

* Having Speed Loading enabled in the graphics menu will cause some strange visual anomalies, such as the sky failing to render. It is essential to disable this option if you have !!!mm1rv3_core.ar installed. It's pretty much useless with modern computers anyway, and even causes some visual pop-in.

* This is a bug with the game, not Revisited, but patrolling cops are sort of glitchy. They teleport around occasionally, don't produce any sounds until they start chasing you, and sometimes spawn under the map and never deactivate or respawn, usually around the freeway. I've also had them spawn directly in front of me before. Sort of easy to see why Angel Studios disabled this feature. If you don't want to see these occasional bugs, don't install the cops-in-traffic file.

* Dashboards with new textures don't have transparency in software rendering mode, which causes some black boxes to appear around the windshield. Simply put, I just can't figure out how to enable it. MM1 is a bitch. Sorry.
--------------
Extras:

If you're only able to select software rendering in the graphics menu, you aren't the first one. Aaro4130 created a program designed to remedy this, and you can download it here: http://win.mm2x.com/files/files/videopatcher2.zip

You may get a malware warning when downloading it, but I promise it's safe. The program is designed to hack into a file (video.cfg), and modify data inside of it. As a result, it may get flagged. Just ignore it.
